The 2003 team got their 2015 season up and running with a home match against Pencaitland in testing windy conditions. We had a full squad of 10 and everyone made a good contribution, with some deliberately tested in unfamiliar positions. Playing into the wind in the first half, we held our own with Calumn making some good stops, Stuart making his reliably strong contribution and Myles finding his range, adjusting to the conditions, and narrowly missing a spectacular shot that bounced off the bar. Daniel and Archie held the defence, whilst Dylan worked the left wing and Shay looked for chances up front. Nearing half time, Itske came on, providing fresh legs and Wil took over up front, seeing us through to the break on even terms. In the second 25, Stanley had a run out in defence, making some good interceptions, and the squad then rotated regularly to mix things up a bit. Overall there were some very nice passages of play, with the ball moved through the team, and some excellent individual touches, all promising for the challenges ahead. The second half was to and fro, with both teams alternating being in front and keeping the supporters on edge to the end.
Next up, Musselburgh.
