Gullane 2003’s impressive away form continued with an 8-2 away win on the 3G at Haddington.
A pre match virus had swept through the camp leaving the team with only 8 players but to a man (and woman) they were excellent, playing as a real team. We started the game a little sluggish and went behind early to a fine Haddington goal. That stung the team into action with Dylan drawing the team level before a slide rule pass put Shay clear down the right with a crisp finish into the bottom right corner to put Gullane 2-1 up.
From there Gullane really kicked on with Jasmine and Archie marshalling the defence, with Archie having a great run and shot brilliantly turned around the post. Daniel once again excelled as the midfield general, winning the ball and then passing to release the marauding Itske who capped an action packed performance with a fine finish for an overdue debut goal. A real highlight of the game was the forward play, Stuart pulling the strings resulting in some fantastic goals as Gullane’s passing carved open opportunities with Dylan scoring a brace and Stuart finishing with 4.
Calumn as always put in an assured performance with a fantastic tip around the post from a free kick and a save from the opposition keeper!
Well done to all and it was great to see such a polished team effort.
